PostSubject: Technology: Drones   Technology: Drones I_icon_minitimeSun Dec 22, 2013 4:25 am

Drones are unmanned devices utilized in all aspect of modern life. They are piloted or set for automated functions and come in all shapes and sizes. Drones can also be programmed and are often used for delivery and messaging services, all it takes is a good technician and an imagination to set the programs.

All drones are equipped with:

Radio Control Interfaces which includes front and rear cameras/directional sensors.
Armour: (Rating1-5)
Drones can be fitted with armor plating, this counts as the Drones Soak Pool. The Size of the Drone dictates the amount of armour a Drone can carry.
Automated Programming. (Rating1-5)
Automated Programming can set a Drone on a particular flight/Patrol path using GPS Co-ordinates, they can also be set offensively/Defensively to attack any thing with a different RFID of Tag. Automated Programs have a rating of 1-5, the rating are programmed skills dice pools.
Targeting Programs: (Rating 1-5)
Targeting programs either aid the controlling pilot or the automated program to lock on to targets. It adds the rating to the Pilots skill pool or Automated Program dice pool.
Sensors add their rating to the drone pilots skills.

Micro-drones (Size of a Large Bug) can be fitted with one sensors and Rating 1 Armour
Small drones (Size of a Foot Ball) can be fitted with two sensors and one Mini weapon like a small blade, light
single shot gun or a tazer and Rating 2 Armour
Medium Drone ( Size of a Medium-Large Dog) can be with three sensors and a Weapon, or robotic and Rating 3 Armour
Large Drones (The size of a small compact car) can fit nearly everything, with in reason. Large Drones can have up to rating 5 Armour.

The Bug: (Micro)
This quad-leg drone crawler is ideal for penetrating closely confined areas and is
capable of crawling on walls and ceilings.

Micro-Skimmer: (Small)
Quiet and durable, this skimmer is smaller than a can lid and can even skim over water.

The Roller: (Small)
Designed to be tossed or rolled into a room, this mini drone can roll on its own but cannot handle
stairs, lips, or large obstructions. An offensive version comes equipped with a built-in flash-pak and smoke grenade for an extra $500

The Fly-Spy: (Micro)
The size of a large insect, this flying eye in- the-sky is very handy for shadowing people, given that it’s
hard to spot.

Crawler: (Small)
Designed to operate as a remote snooper in rough rural or urban terrain, this small
crawler can handle stairs and other obstacles.

X Wing: (Medium)
The wings on this VSTOL stealth craft fold up for easy transport.

BMW Crawler: (Medium)
A Crawler drone equally effective during daytime or night time conditions. Comes equipped with one weapon (LMG
or smaller).

Rotor-Drone: (Medium)
The Roto-Drone is a simple, no-nonsense rotor-wing drone design.

Solar Drone: (Medium)
This solar-powered mini-blimp designed to stay in the air for days high above its surveillance target. Commonly used as an eye-in-the-sky for site security as well as various air traffic control functions.

Stealth Drone: (Large)
This is a vectored-thrust reckon drone features a unique limited hover capability.

The Auto Doc: (Large)
The autodoc is a mobile stabilization unit, it immediately stabilizes any character hooked
up to it. The AutoDoc is equipped with a Rating 4 automated medical programming.

Jaguar Combat Drone: (Large)
A hardened ground-combat machine. Carries one weapon (LMG or smaller).

Centipede Search and Rescue Walker Drone: (Small)
Centipedes are the current standard for search and rescue drones. Each drone less than a foot long, working in large networks of tens or hundreds to scurry through wreckage looking for survivors or evidence of the cause of a disaster. To protect them from fire or caustic liquids they are heavily armoured for their size (Special armour rating of 4), though they are virtually useless in combat situations because of their slow movement. Once a drone has found something, it will call the rest of the drones of its network. Once there, adaptors at both ends of each Centipede allow them to dock and lock into each other, greatly enhancing their strength in lifting wreckage, bracing walls, and freeing those buried. The basic STR of a single Centipede is 0. When physically joined, the network’s overall STR is equal to the number of Centipedes locked together (max. STR 10) for lifting, bracing and rescue purposes only.

Sentinel “Alpha” Series (Rail Sentry Drone) (Medium)
The new “Alpha” series is a special security and defence system hardened against wireless intruders due to the fact that the rail drones are controlled via contacts in the rail system. In order to seize control over the drones, a potential hacker has to first get into physical contact with the rail and then hack into its heavily encrypted control system. Other advantages of rail drones are their unlimited operation time and the fact, that they can fire even the heaviest weapons without suffering from any recoil, while their huge drawback is of course that they are fixed to their rail system, so they are mostly used as last line of defence in combination with other means of security.

Wheeled Perimeter (Medium)
Designed as a low profile observation drone, some versions come equipped with small weaponry, usually made up by non lethal weapons like a pain inducer or tazer. They are intended to supplement or replace random guard patrols on the exterior and interior of lightly or medium security facilities, so they are built around a decent sensor package. If they ever attack themselves, the idea is usually to delay intruders long enough to allow a more forceful response or to swarm them with multiple drones, and while a prepared intruder can laugh off a stun gun hit, being hit by a dozen at once is devastating. They also have the advantage that they have been around for many years. Dozens of variations have been produced for military, security and even home markets. So while the most updated models may not be available, older ones are, oft en at bargain prices.

Wheeled Delivery Drone (Large)
A common delivery drone. It is basically a moving box with wheels, capable of carrying up to ten standard delivery packages. Once the drone is dropped off by the van at a location, it follows the directions on the tagged packages, and then asks for biometric data from the personnel authorized to receive them. Once the identity is confirmed, the drone opens the compartment for the package, so it can be taken out. At this time it can also accept new packages by reading the tags of any packages placed inside it. There is an internal hopper to keep the packages out of the dispensing compartment until the drone is at the address. The packages are safe from being casually removed, though the drone is not heavily armoured, comes standard with Rating 5 armor so anyone determined and with equipped with proper tools can crack it open. If that happens, or if it is delayed, the drone contacts first the van driver then the delivery company’s on call pilots to handle the situation.

Lockheed Vulcan (Wheeled Maintenance Drone) (Medium)
The Vulcan is a typical maintenance drone that can be used for all kinds of upkeep work while the flesh-and-blood mechanics can focus their experience on more difficult tasks. Intended for the dangerous work environment of an airfield, it is more robust than a typical maintenance drone, which makes it perfectly suited for the types of dangerous situations shadow mechanics often find themselves in. Its Aeronautics Mechanic 3 auto program can easily perform any maintenance work imaginable. The Vulcan is optimized to work on Lockheed’s own products and receives daily product updates as part of an off -site maintenance contract that Lockheed often sells with its aircraft and drones. In case of complicated or unusual repairs, Lockheed can arrange for one of their experienced engineers to jump into the drone via Matrix.

Saeder-Krupp Neptune (Submersible Reckon Drone) (Medium)
The size of a normal combat torpedo, the Neptune is intended for use with submarines that cannot go into shallow waters. Originally intended for deep water nuclear submarines, which needed to avoid coastlines for fear of losing their stealth, the submersible drone would close in to either observe or drop off sensors to maintain surveillance. Several models have been used in minesweeper missions, but the level of control needed for those operations becomes a problem. While older models have ended up in private hands, the demand for them is simply not there because the ability to control a drone underwater is limited, for emanating a signal to control it, or any signal at all, is verboten in submarine operations. Some corporations use Neptunes as security for arquacologies and floating bases, where broadcasting a signal is not dangerous because the underwater facilities themselves are not hidden
