New Babylon Underground

The underground is a series abandoned subway stations and pockets of the old city simply built over. The buildings comprising the Underground were the remnants of Cities that stood upon the grounds where New Babylon now rests.  What remains are twisting passages, old streets that still have the street level business fronts, cavernous halls, and miles upon miles of pathways.  Though largely unmapped by most, the Underground has a few areas that have not only become popular, but have become integral to the Mega Cities shadowy side.

The Golden Mile

The Golden Mile is one of the most sought after area's in New Babylon's underground. It has a violent history that has changed hands several times over the past thirty years, as Gangs, Crime Organizations, and Shadow Culture Political groups have tried to push the others out entirely. It has been developed, renovated and established since 2055 when it was accidentally discovered while a section of tunnel was being mapped for underground smuggling routes. For the last two years the Golden Mile has been under the protection of the Yakuza, it was previously part of the Russian Mafiya territories but the Russians where forced to retreat after a week of blood and attacks by the Japanese caused heavy loses to the Syndicate's ranks. The Golden Mile is a perfect example of Street Law, subject to the rules of those who run it. The establishments within the mile have the freedom to act outside of New Babylon’s privatized law enforcement agencies as well as away from the prying eyes of the Watchers. In exchange they provide free services to the controlling body or pay weekly 'Rent'. There are many entrance way’s into this underground. One just needs to know where to look with in Sales.

Establishments Include.

The Cage – A blood sport complex that resides inside of an old Gym.  Pit fighting, gambling, the set up of illegal sport activities like street racing all happen here.

The Church – Gothic club with a dark reputation for blood shed.

The Golden Markets – for the non RFID customers.

Central Park – an underground park fed by hydroponics and artificial light. Off the park there are many bars and small drug Cafes, Brothels and the lavish Tantric Temple

And much more....

The Red Mall

Russian owned and heavily protected. The Red Mall, or simply The Mall, is a place of commerce for the less squeamish. It is a place for smugglers and Pirates to sell their wares, and the number one hot spot for illegal trade of nearly every description you can think of. slaves, Illegal weapons and restricted technologies to name a few. But the worst reputation comes form the illegal sales of second hand cybernetics and bioware, The Organ Markets. The Mall is filled with the worst that society has to offer and richest willing to take the chance. For the right price everything is up for sale.

Pirate's Cove

A section of the Underground that nestles up against the foundations of the Sea Wall on the coast.  In 2075 Pirates demolished a section of the foundation on the ocean floor that gave entry way into a large underground chamber that has numerous passageways from it.  This are became known as Pirate's Cove. Roughly the size of four city blocks, it now acts as a dock for smugglers, pirates, and lawless raiders to enter New Babylon beneath the watchful gaze of Dock Master's and Customs Agents.  From here, all manner of illegal goods are brought to the Golden Mile and The Mall.
